As per report published in Annals of Internal Medicine, the average person spends more than half of his or her waking hours in sitting in front of the computer, watching TV, etc.
Technology has a lot of benefits but also a lot of drawbacks. Technology may cause that we sit in front of the computer for a long time.
Spending too much time sitting may lead to health problems such as: chronic back pain, poor posture, and even deadly diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.
As per four experts, sitting too long will lead to these issues:
Brain, Neck, And Shoulder Issues
If you sit too long, the flow of the oxygen and the blood towards our brain will be slower, and will won’t be able to think clearly. If we move, more oxygen and blood will be flowing throughout our brain and we will be able to maintain clarity.
Also, sitting in front of the computer for long time, will affect your neck, especially the cervical vertebrae. Bad posture damages the back and shoulders muscles. They become overextended because of leaning over a keyboard.
Sitting too much also leads to several back problems. Poor posture results in back pain, inflexible spines, and disk damage. If you move around, the soft disks, which are located between vertebrae in the spine, will be expanded and contracted and will allow blood and nutrients in. Too much sitting made the disk uneven and compact and causes build up of collagen around tendons and ligaments.

As per one study, people who watched TV for long hours had a 61% greater risk of dying a premature death in contrast to those who watched less than one hour per day.

If you have to sit for a long period, make yourself sure to sit up straight and avoid slouching over the keyboard. You will naturally keep your body straight if you buy en exercise ball, which will force your muscles to work. What is more, ensure yourself to do stretch exercises. According to experts, you should do this at least 30 minutes. Well, walk as much as you can.
