Craniopagus twins are conjoined twins which are fused at the cranium. This is a really rare phenomenon, namely, one in 2.5 million people have this condition. Unfortunately, conjoined twins do not survive more than 24 after they are born.
In Canada in October 2016, the twins Krista and Tatiana Hogan were born. Krista and Tatiana are extraordinary little girls whose heads are connected. These twins look unique because of the fact that their brains are connected by a thalamic bridge.
When Krista and Tatiana were born, doctors didn’t expect that they will survive. These twins are really a medical miracle and they celebrated even their 10th birthday. Their family treats them as normal children.
Krista and Tatiana can share the senses of touch and taste. They can even control one another’s limbs. Tatiana can see through the both eyes of Krista and can control three arms and one leg. Krista can only see through one of Krista’s eyes and can control three legs and one arm.
Even more unbelievable is that Krista and Tatiana have self-control of their limbs. They can switch between their sensory and motor signals as they wish. The twins can never be separated because of the phenomenal thalamic connection. In other words, the risk of death is very high if doctors try to separate them.
Although these twin sisters can control each other limbs and know each other thoughts, they have very different personalities. Krista is quiet and relaxed, and Tatiana is more friendly and chatty.
